The weather in Britain is notoriously unpredictable, and here in London we’ve seen some startlingly changeable weather patterns over the last few weeks.

To shed some light on the science of weather prediction, Professor Sir Brian Hoskins will be delivering the 2016 Lighthill Lecture at Imperial College London next week. His talk, Predicting Weather and Climate, will focus on both short-term weather patterns and longer-term climate change.

The event will begin at 17:00 on Monday 16th May 2016, in the Huxley Building of Imperial’s South Kensington campus, room LT 308. Attendance is free and open to all, but you do need to register in advance.

Please visit the event website for full details, and to book tickets.

Meanwhile, you can watch Sir Brian talking about global environmental changes in the video below, recorded in 2009 at the Darwin Festival at the University of Cambridge.
