London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) will host its first Elephant Conference in India next month.
The event is to be held at the Centre for Ecological Sciences at the Indian Institute of Sciences in Bangalore, and will be open to the public. A wide range of issues will be addressed, including many historical, economic and cultural aspects surrounding both Indian and African elephants.
This is one of a series of conferences that SOAS has organised around the world to help develop active research networks. Previous gatherings have focused on a range of other animals including donkeys, camels and war horses.
So if you happen to be passing through Bangalore between 4th and 6th April 2016, it promises to be a fascinating experience.
